The Dredging Professor LLC provides expert consulting, expert witness, research, and educational/training services related to managing contaminated sediment sites and conventional dredging, dredged materials management, beneficial use projects Owners, Agencies, and Interested Parties. 

The Dredging Professor LLC is owned and operated by Dr. Donald F. Hayes, PE (MS, LA, NV), BCEE, F. ASCE. Dr. Hayes is a widely recognized expert in the fields above. His experience includes 16 years with the US Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, MS and 27 years in academia (positions including Professor, Department Chair, Institute Director, and Associate Dean of Engineering). Dr. Hayes also has extensive consulting experience, including many of the most complex contaminated sediment sites such as the Hudson River, Onondaga Lake, Lower Fox River, Lower Passaic River, and numerous others. 

 The Dredging Professor LLC often works directly for owners and agencies, providing guidance on the “best next step” and reviewing technical reports on site conditions or proposed remedies. Dr. Hayes’ extensive experience and status in the profession make him an excellent point person for negotiations between agencies and owners trying to find pragmatic, cost effective solutions to the complex projects. The Dredging Professor LLC is comfortable working in concert with full-service consulting companies to assist owners and agencies navigate the complex nature of contaminated sediment sites. 

Dr. Hayes has extensive experience as an expert witness including numerous depositions and multiple in-court testimonies. Dr. Hayes limits his expert witness work to those areas in which he has direct expertise. Dr. Hayes has authored numerous publications, made hundreds of presentations, and presented many lectures. He is available to train your staff or speak at your event on topics within his expertise.
